This is by far the best Tikka Masala recipe out there!


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 medium onions, diced finely
  • 2 tablespoons fresh garlic cloves, finely grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons coriander
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder 
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 14 ounces tomato puree, can
  • 1 cup whole fat plain yogurt
  • 1 12 cups heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • fresh cilantro, to garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. Add butter, oil, and onions to a dutch oven and cook onions until caramelized, 20-30 minutes.
  2. Then add garlic and ginger, cook until fragrant
  3. Add all the spices, stir constantly for 2-4 minutes or until spices are fully toasted, be sure not to burn spices
  4. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 1-2 hours, add water if it thickens too much
  5. Enjoy over rice and topped with cilantro
