Salted Brown Butter Rice Rice Krispie Treats
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Yield: 12 Servings
Ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 10 ounces marshmallows
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 8 cups Rice Krispies
Directions
- Prepare the Pan: Line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it with butter.
- Brown the Butter: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring often, until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5–7 minutes. Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Melt the Marshmallows: Lower the heat to low and add the marshmallows. Stir until completely melted and combined with the browned butter.
Add Salt and Cereal: Stir in the salt. Then, add the Rice Krispies cereal and gently fold until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
Transfer to Pan: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a buttered spatula or a piece of parchment paper, press the mixture into an even layer without packing it too tightly.
Cool and Cut: Let the treats cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Once set, cut into squares.
Notes
- For an extra touch of flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract when you stir in the salt.
- If you prefer a touch of sweetness, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the top of the treats before they set.
- Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days to maintain their freshness.
