Cheesy Pull-apart Garlic Bread
Prep Time: 1 hr
Cook Time: 35 mins
Yield: 1 Loaf
Ingredients
Dough
- 1⁄4 cup water, 110°F
- 1⁄2 cup milk, 110°F
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1.5 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, egg wash
Garlic Butter
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Filling
- 1⁄2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1⁄4 cup grated parmesan
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit / grease a 5 by 9 loaf pan and set aside
Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, mix the butter, garlic, and parsley until well blended.
Dough
- In a large bowl, add the warm water, milk, honey, and yeast and allow to sit for 5-10 minutes, or until foamy.
- Stir in the butter, add the flour and salt, and knead the dough until a smooth ball forms, about 5-10 minutes. If the dough is sticky, add one tablespoon of flour at a time until a smooth ball forms.
- Shape dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes or until the dough doubles in size.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly greased countertop and shape it into a 10-inch by 15-inch rectangle. Spread the softened garlic butter over the dough and top with the mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.
- Cut the dough lengthwise into four long strips. Stack each strip onto each other and cut them lengthwise four more times. There will be four stacks of four squares.
- Layer the dough cut side up into the loaf pan.
- Cover with a damp towel and let rise for 30-40 minutes or until it is nice and puffy.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush on top of the loaf.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until rolls are lightly brown and cooked through.
- While hot, turn the loaf out onto the cooling rack, allow it to cool, and enjoy!
