Fire Cider | Master Tonic
Master Tonic also know as fire cider is long been touted as an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant tonic to help boost your immune system. Wether it does or not I love the taste of it on a hot summer day working in the garden. This recipe is very adaptable. I hope you give it a try!
Ingredients
- 2 pounds turmeric root
- 1.5 pounds ginger root
- 6 tablespoons red pepper flakes, adjust to taste
- 4 tablespoons black pepper
- 1⁄2 pound ceylon cinnamon sticks
- 1 gallon glass containers
Directions
- Chop ginger and turmeric root into small dice, I find using a food processor to be the easiest way to achieve this.
- Put diced ginger, turmeric, red pepper, black pepper, cinnamon sticks and apple cider vinegar into a glass jar. Let sit covered, out of sunlight for 3-4 months.
- Strain, compost solids and store liquid in amber bottles in the refrigerator.
